Throughout the years, I have worked various remote jobs & in-person positions in the Interior Design industry. One thing I have noticed, especially in small, individually owned boutique firms, is the struggle to find the balance between serving your clients and running your own business. Handling the backend tasks of your business can be a full time job itself. As I was preparing to graduate college for my Interior Design degree, I noticed a huge trend with boutique designers - Needing the assistance, but not wanting to take on the responsibilities and the overhead costs of hiring a new employee. This is when I had that "A-Ha" moment and decided to come up with a service where I can assist multiple designers and industry partners, with tedious tasks that might take away from their design time. I have always had a passion to help others and I love to take on tasks that will take the stress off of my clients so they can focus on what's important - their business and their design clients. Having an EXTRA HAND on projects is essential to your business growth.

5 Reasons Why a VDA Can Help Your Business Thrive:

  • 1. Saves you and your business MONEY- A VDA is an independent contractor, not an employee. This allows you to work with your design assistant whenever you need them. You also don't need to worry about overhead costs, such as insurance, office space, maintenance costs and additional taxes. Moreover, you don’t need to purchase office equipment like telephones, computers, etc. And we all know how expensive our design software programs can be...

  • 2. Gives you an opportunity to give your VDA a "test run" - What's worse than hiring a new employee that doesn't perform well or meet your expectations after you have hired them? I can't think of anything! By hiring a VDA, it allows you test the waters a little bit, commitment free. You can also hire them to do one specific task or a combination of tasks, whatever suits your needs best.

  • 3. Saves you and your business TIME - A VDA takes on projects as their own project manager. They also offer services that they know they excel in and genuinely enjoy doing. This ensures that your project will be completed with passion and done in a timely matter. By offloading your mundane tasks, a VDA can literally add more productive hours to your day.

  • 4. Opportunity for collaboration and business growth - Hiring a virtual assistant allows the opportunity for you to collaborate with someone new and can implement fresh ideas which can drastically enhance your business. It's important to keep up with our everchanging industry. A VDA is constantly on-top of the current trends in all areas such as design, marketing, client presentation packages, office organization, technology, and much more.

  • 5. A VDA can help catch mistakes you might have missed - It's always nice to have a fresh set of eyes look at a project that you have been tirelessly working on. A VDA (with proper design education and experience), can easily catch those mistakes that might have been missed, while they are completing tasks for you. As designers, we know that mistakes can easily happen and having those mistakes being caught can be crucial.
